Once again the Halifax Art Society had a great morning, this time learning about Chinese art.
Anne Allan showed us how to grind down Chinese ink sticks with a drop of water, instead of using cheap ready-made Chinese painting colours. She had brought many of her brushes along, all made with real hair, some with goat hair or some even from chicken feathers. We were amazed at the lovely point they all make when wet.
In the workshop we tried our own skills on fine Chinese paper. You just drew a quick wet line and could tear the paper. Some created wonderful birds or even an eagle.
On the 20th April Tracey Krupianka will demonstrate a Scottish Scene using acrylics and a palette knife.
