Last Friday the Halifax Art Society invited Tom Ratcliffe to give an illustrated talk about John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-1893) to our members. We learned about other artists whose pictures seem to have influenced Grimshaw too, for instance American artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler. Some of Grimshaw’s work can be found at The Smith Art Gallery in Brighouse.

On the 6th December our president Paul Talbot-Greaves will demonstrate The Immidiency of Watercolour in a landscape painting.
