If you are curious how preparation is going for our annual exhibition, here are some photos of our members getting ready…

In order to avoid any confusion that may occur, we wish to inform all members and prospective new ones, of the re-branding of the “Decorative and Fine Arts Society” to the “The Arts Society”. As from early next year the ‘Arts Appreciation Society’ will be changing their web address from halifaxadfas.co.uk to theartssocietyhalifax.

Please be aware that our aims differ considerably from theirs. Our society, the Halifax Art Society (HAS), is a practical, participating art society who meet weekly to mix with like-minded people and enjoy the art of painting and drawing with the aim of improving their skills and having the opportunity to show and exhibit their work.

Our former member Dashamir Vaqarri took part in the THEOREM exhibition and symposium at Cambridge’s Ruskin Gallery in July.  The exhibition of doctoral research in the Visual Arts featured five of Dashamir’s work from his PhD at the University of Derby.

We are exhibiting at the Hebden Bridge Visitor Centre throughout the month of April.

We will also be selling hand made cards for the Macmillan Unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
