phyl lynn 001 (640x480)

The first meeting of the Halifax Art Society at our new venue was a huge success with 17 people present. Janet Gledhill ran a workshop, the title being ’Winter poem challenge’. The paintings that followed from the reading of the poems were amazing, so many different styles and ideas.

Our new meetings times will be on Fridays from 10.30am to 1.00pm at All Saints Parish Church Hall, Godfrey Road, Skircoat Green, Halifax HX3 0LY. New members are most welcome.

Coach trip to Crosby Beach and Lady Lever Gallery

We are taking a coach party to visit Crosby Beach on the 7th September to see the 100 cast iron sculptures of Anthony Gormley “Another Place”. From there we will travel on the Lady Lever Gallery in Port Sunlight, which is home to many eighteenth and nineteenth paintings, Wedgwood Pottery, tapestries and embroideries. The Gallery is in the heart of the picturesque architectural village of Port Sunlight built in the 1920’s for the workers of the Lever factory.

We will be leaving from St Jude’s Church at 9.15am and picking up down the valley if necessary and returning home from Port Sunlight around 4.30pm.

If any members or friends would like to join us or have any further inquiries please contact Janet Gledhill (Secretary) on 01422 360726.
