John Harrison – Demonstration in Line and Wash
2nd February 2024 – John Harrison was welcomed back to give a demonstration of painting a landscape using line and wash. It was a very enjoyable morning in which he shared his techniques as well as giving us so many useful tips and ideas. He brought copies of his new ‘Colouring Book’ which contain line drawings as a practical learning tool. He has also published a book ‘Pen and Wash’ which will soon be available to purchase on Amazon.
Phil Biggs – Demonstration of a landscape in Watercolour
13th October 2023 – Artist Phil Biggs http://www.heritagewatercolour.co.uk gave an excellent demonstration of painting a landscape in watercolour. He gave step by step instructions and useful tips during his painting of a lovely Lincolnshire rural village scene.
Mark Warner -demonstration of landscape in acrylics
29th September 2023 – We were pleased to welcome Mark Warner http://www.brushmark.co.uk on his first visit to Halifax Art Society. He gave a wonderful demonstration of one of his paintings and explained the techniques/materials he uses. He brought in some examples of his artwork and sketches which were very inspiring.
Stephen Coates – demonstration of line and wash
28th July 2023 – Stephen first invited members to draw along with him as he demonstrated how he quickly draws figures, creates perspective, where a vanishing point actually is! and the difference between shadows and reflections. Stephen then completed sketching a Mediterranean street scene using ink and wash. We all learnt something from a very enjoyable demonstration. Stephen kindly donated his finished artwork.
