Cake and poetry

The members of the Halifax Art Society celebrated their first year in the new premises with tea and cakes.  The past year was highly successful: Numerous good demonstrations and workshops have attracted many new members.

The meeting continued with a silent auction of paintings and art material. Later member Joy Edwards read two of her poems and we tried to paint accordingly. Her talent in writing poetry is as brilliant as her talent for painting. We have many talented artists like Joy among us who willingly give their time. We give them our thanks and gratitude.

Natural Forms

naturalLast Friday Miriam Laville gave a demonstration to the Halifax Art Society on how to create a picture with natural forms in mixed media. To the delight of twenty people in the audience the artist was using a brand new microphone the society had just bought. So we all clearly heard and understood her explanations how to use charcoal, acrylics, oil pastels or a medium new to most – ink pigment blocks.

Next session we are going to practice what we have learned.
