17th January 2025 – Having been delayed by a week due to the snow and ice, we were pleased to welcome back Jane who gave us so many hints, ideas and methods for painting skies and trees.
3rd January 2025 – We started the New Year with a poem chosen by Janet, My Shadow by Robert Louis Stevenson. Pictures were provided to help inspire members, using a medium of their choice.
6th December 2024 – Today’s workshop was organised and led by Mark Siggins and Helen Somerville. Mark brought in his some of his own designs painted on bottles, jars, ramekins etc. and explained the pros and cons of different techniques he used. He also provided lots of material and pictures to help us with our own creations. We all had an enjoyable morning and the final results looked absolutely ‘fantastic’ especially with the lighting.
29th November 2024 – As it was St Andrew’s Day, members were invited to wear anything Scottish. Unfortunately Kate was unable to lead this workshop so Lynne kindly stepped in. Lynne explained the many different objects and photos that were available to help inspire our artwork. Lynda had the difficult job of choosing the 3 best Scottish themed pictures and each artist won a prize, well done. We also enjoyed refreshments which included haggis and shortbread biscuits. Thank you to all who contributed to a great morning.
22nd November 2024 – Lynne gave an excellent illustrated talk about Samuel John Peploe, Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell, G L Hunter and John Duncan Fergusson who were collectively known as The Scottish Colourists. They were radical artists in their day who enlivened the Scottish art scene with the fresh vibrancy of French Fauvists colours.
