The Friday 6th October morning meeting of the Halifax Art Society was well attended. Two of our members, Lynda Thomas and Philip Hickin, ran a workshop on ‘Marbling’. It was a technique that was new to most of us. Nevertheless, under Lynda’s and Philip’s skillful tuition, we were able to produce many beautiful patterns. We are all grateful to members who give up their time to make the society successful. We continue to attract new members and more are welcome.
The next public meeting will be on the 10th November with the illustrated talk by Lynne Hickin ‘Alice through the Illustrators’.

The Halifax Art Society had a most entertaining Friday morning with their demonstrator David Newbould. David, a talented Yorkshire artist imbued with a blunt Yorkshire wit, made the meeting seem like just thirty minutes. He chose a country scene in Norfolk as his subject and used mixed media. David gave us many tips and advice along with funny jokes and tales of the lives of older Yorkshire folk that he had met. The finished picture was a delight.
