28th March 2025 – This workshop was a continuation from last week of making an Abstract Landscape with Esther Waite. Some wonderful work was produced. Members also wanted to know how to make Gelli Prints and Esther kindly did a demonstration for those interested. We would like to thank Esther for her skills and generosity.

21st March 2025 – Esther described how she makes different materials to create her abstract landscape collages. She talked through all the items she brought in, explaining the methods she uses to paint on various types of tissue paper and how using Mica powder creates an illuminating effect on paint. We all had a go at making our own pieces/designs. Esther will be back next week to talk through assembling the different pieces to create our own abstract landscape.

14th February 2025 – Inspired by Dominic Vince’s illustrated talk on the artist Sheila Fell, members enjoyed creating their own artwork based on her style/technique of painting.

7th February 2025 – Dominic’s art lecture was about the life and work of artist Sheila Fell, who was born in 1931 in Aspatria, Cumberland. She attended art college in London, was a contemporary of Frank Auerbach and a friend of L.S. Lowry. Her main subject was Aspatria and surrounding Cumbrian landscape. She died relatively young in 1979.
