2nd February 2024 – John Harrison was welcomed back to give a demonstration of painting a landscape using line and wash. It was a very enjoyable morning in which he shared his techniques as well as giving us so many useful tips and ideas. He brought copies of his new ‘Colouring Book’ which contain line drawings as a practical learning tool. He has also published a book ‘Pen and Wash’ which will soon be available to purchase on Amazon.

On the 14th October we were invited to an Outdoor Drawing workshop at Dean Clough with Jake Attree at his studio. He talked through some of his drawings done using only a biro – they were very striking.
After Jake gave a short demonstration of his technique, we found a spot either outside or indoors looking out of window and drew in biro what we could see. Everyone enjoyed this unique experience.
Some members stayed at the Hall and drew an industrial landscape from photographs provided.

On Friday 1st April, our member Carol Pope shared her amazing experience once again in our workshop ‘Playing with Texture ‘. We used pens and pencils of all kind and took inspiration from books and plenty of great photos that Carol had brought along.
At the end of March we took time to look at our own hands and the shapes they make in a workshop of ‘Busy hands’ led by Lynda Thomas. We looked at a variety of reference material, books and wooden mannequin models as well as our own digits.
Lynda encouraged us to use different media and look at our hands in a different way.
