7th February 2025 – Dominic’s art lecture was about the life and work of artist Sheila Fell, who was born in 1931 in Aspatria, Cumberland. She attended art college in London, was a contemporary of Frank Auerbach and a friend of L.S. Lowry. Her main subject was Aspatria and surrounding Cumbrian landscape. She died relatively young in 1979.

31st January 2025 – Nicola is a fashion illustrator and brought in her stunning artwork, Chanel books she illustrated, fashion magazines, photos and lots of tools for members to use as part of her workshop. We started by practising drawing the human frame and encouraged to use a loose painting style. We then did quick 5 minute sketches of Nicola in different poses followed by creating our own artwork using an image from one of the magazines/photos. It was a challenging and thoroughly enjoyable morning.

24th January 2025 – Carol gave a short demonstration of her technique of drawing with dust, using fine graphite, a piece of tissue and a putty rubber. She brought in some of her completed artwork which are amazing. Members had an enjoyable afternoon practising this unique style of drawing.

17th January 2025 – Having been delayed by a week due to the snow and ice, we were pleased to welcome back Jane who gave us so many hints, ideas and methods for painting skies and trees.
