1st August 2025 – Janet led this workshop and invited Polly and Ian from the Playhouse to talk about the theatre’s history. We learnt about how the Playhouse started out to the many different/diverse productions delivered today. We were treated to an amusing performance from one of Michael Frayn’s Pocket Playhouse pieces, ‘The Corrected Version’. Members were then challenged to paint one of the many programmes brought in, some of which will hopefully be displayed at the next paintings changeover at the Playhouse.

25th July 2025 – Working from photographs or visiting the allotments, members continued to paint pictures for the 2026 Allotment Calendar.

18th July 2025 – Following on from last week’s workshop with Simon Manfield, members had a go at creating a nautical themed drawing or painting.

11th June 2025 – Simon made a welcome return. This time he gave an interesting talk about his commission to paint the Provident, the wonderful time he spent sailing around on the trawler, the complexities of painting accurate details of a boat that would stand up to the scrutiny of sailors and how the sketches he drew resulted in him doing 2 paintings. Members spent the rest of the morning sketching a boat themed artwork either using one of Simon’s sketches of the Provident or a picture they brought in.
