Louis BENOIT

15th November 2024 – Louis talked about places where he studied, how he met his hero and mentor, Ralph Steadman, and explained his thought process in the production of a short animated film we watched. We all had a go using ink, bamboo sticks and brushes trying out his technique of splashing ink/water on paper and letting our imagination run free to create an image. Thank you to Moira and Louis for an enjoyable morning.

Dia de los Muertos and Marigolds

1st November 2024 – Lynda led this workshop which included a variety of topics. Members had a choice of continuing to make Christmas decorations for the Minster Christmas Tree, decorating one of the skull templates provided to celebrate the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead, and/or making marigolds using tissue paper. Some members worked on a picture started in a previous workshop or on one of their own projects.

Chris LEAPER – ‘Muriel’ illustrated talk and workshop

18th October 2024 – Chris made a welcome return to tell us about how he created a History Timeline for Bowling Green Academy school, in response to an email they sent to us. It took Chris one year to complete the project due to not being able to work on it when the children were in school. The subject of the Timeline was based on the people and times in the school curriculum.
