12th September 2025 – Today was an opportunity to continue with the Rainbow Portraits from last weeks demonstration or free choice.

5th September 2025 – We welcomed Julia again who presented a very interesting workshop painting a portrait using very unexpected colours as a base. Julia gave a short demonstration for each layer of colour which members then practiced on their own portrait painting. The results were amazing. Members can spend next week to finish their paintings.

Following the success of last year’s calendar, members were invited to paint fruit and flowers for the Allotment’s next calendar. There were 67 entries in total. A big thank you to Ilona, an Allotment Committee Member and a member of the Halifax Art Society for all her hard work and time in arranging and coordinating this.
Visitors and Allotment Committee members attended the Allotment Show on Saturday 16th August 2025 and they voted for their favourite painting. We are pleased to announce that one of Carrie’s paintings of Hellebores was voted the favourite – see picture and photo below, well done!
Votes for other paintings tied equally over the next 5 places – details to be given later.

A photo of all 67 entries are shown below.

22nd August 2025 – this workshop was led by Carol who brought in several bottles of unusual different products to paint with – tea, fruit tea, coffee, beetroot and red cabbage. She explained how she prepared the products and uses them to create different effects. From the many photographs/pictures Carol brought in, members were inspired to create an artwork with ‘a twist’.
