A Right Royal Portrait
In celebration of the forthcoming Coronation we attempted to create a portrait or picture connected with this special event. Cakes were provided which certainly helped with our creativity!

Speedy portraits
On 31st March, Lynda led a workshop on fast portaits. It involved sketching portraits of each other, using only fine-line pens, each one being done in less than 20 minutes. Pens and paper were provided. At the end of the morning a ‘Rogues Gallery’ was set up. This was a challenging but really fun day, with members producing some lovely work.

Costume model with Louise
A Society member, Louise, said she would model for us and wore a fantastic bright and colourful outfit. In the first session we had 10 minutes slots to sketch Louise as she changed positions. After coffee we had the opportunity to draw a more detailed picture from one pose. Everyone had a fun morning.
First, our model…

Some sketches…

And a splash of colour…

Soft pastels
On the 21st October, a soft pastel workshop was led by Carol Pope and the subject matter was a portrait of a person or animal. Carol talked through how she created the many wonderful portraits using different techniques.

Materials were provided to help inspire members to create their own work.
