23rd February 2024 – Dorothy Ann Simister, an artist from Hebden Bridge, organised and presented today’s workshop based on Kandinsky and his synaesthesia – seeing colours in response to the world around him. We listened to a variety of music and drew the shapes and colours we felt the sounds represented. It was a really enjoyable experience.
16th February 2024 – We have been asked to provide artwork for the Godfrey Road Allotments 2025 Calendar. Ilona brought in their current and previous calendars for reference and inspiration. Using sketches and many photographs from our visits members enjoyed the first of our allotment workshops.
9th February 2024 – Following John Harrison’s excellent demonstration last week, everyone felt inspired to create their own picture using the techniques and tips he gave.
2nd February 2024 – John Harrison was welcomed back to give a demonstration of painting a landscape using line and wash. It was a very enjoyable morning in which he shared his techniques as well as giving us so many useful tips and ideas. He brought copies of his new ‘Colouring Book’ which contain line drawings as a practical learning tool. He has also published a book ‘Pen and Wash’ which will soon be available to purchase on Amazon.
26th January 2024 – After learning about Horse in Art last week, Lynne Hickin brought lots of books and ideas for members and led the session. It was a very popular subject and members produced lovely artwork.
