What a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon
Once again Lynne and Philip opened their home to members, this time for a ‘Drawing the Head Workshop’. Reta was even trying out Lynne’s ‘drawing on the tablet’ app!
Lynne is keen for Halifax Art Society members to be able to visit galleries, so the money raised from these workshops will go towards coach hire. We wonder where we will go!
Paul Gauguin titled his portrait of Vincent van Gogh “The Painter of Sunflowers” and it took very little time for members to guess the subject of last Friday’s illustrated talk.
The talk was extremely well researched and presented by Lynne Hickin. None of us knew that one of van Gogh’s paintings was actually lost in a bombing, but luckily photographed just before that disaster.
We always meet at ‘All Saints Parish Hall’, Godfrey Road, Skircoat Green from 10:30am to 1pm on Fridays.
Last Friday the Halifax Art Society learned that myths, legends, stories, imagination and colour are part of the make up of Barry Cook’s work. Members enjoyed learning all about school days, college days and the processes of creating such imaginative work. We all had a go at creating characters – not an easy thing to do in a few minutes.
On the 23rd Stephen Coates will give a demo of ‘Skies in Watercolour’.
Poppies and Parkin were enjoyed by members of the Halifax Art Society at Friday’s meeting in ‘All Saints Parish Hall’ in Skircoat Green. Many thanks to our secretary Janet for the delicious Parkin.
On the 16th Lynne Hickin will give an illustrated talk about ‘The Painter of Sunflowers’.
Last Friday, members of the Halifax Art Society came together as usual at All Saints Parish Hall in Skircoat Green to the workshop ‘A Parliament of Owls’ led by Lynda Thomas. She had brought many illustrations of owls and we were encouraged to draw, paint, do paper cuts or even to do Lino prints.The session from 10:30 to 1 pm quickly passed.
On the 9th November artist Barry Cook will give a talk and will lead a mini workshop, so we are required to bring sketchbooks along.
