On the morning of 21st April we had the chance to complete the pictures we started the previous week or create a new one. Some of the members who had never used oil pastels before found it interesting and fun to try something new.

Oil pastel demonstration
Jake Attree brought in some impressive examples of pictures he has done using oil pastels – some taking several months, even years! He gave a short demonstration of the techniques he uses to create his pictures.
Jake then spent time talking to us whilst we had a go, giving valuable feedback. We had an informative and very fun day with Jake.
Spring time!
Carol led the workshop on 7th April, where members created artwork based on the theme of Spring. Carol brought in photographs, gardening books and some flowers picked from her own garden. Here are some pictures of work in progress.



























Speedy portraits
On 31st March, Lynda led a workshop on fast portaits. It involved sketching portraits of each other, using only fine-line pens, each one being done in less than 20 minutes. Pens and paper were provided. At the end of the morning a ‘Rogues Gallery’ was set up. This was a challenging but really fun day, with members producing some lovely work.



















Inspired by chess
The shape and colour workshop led by Lynne was about black and white chess pieces. Lynne provided many examples of other artists works and different chess objects which helped to inspire members to produce some stunning work.
