6th December 2024 – Today’s workshop was organised and led by Mark Siggins and Helen Somerville. Mark brought in his some of his own designs painted on bottles, jars, ramekins etc. and explained the pros and cons of different techniques he used. He also provided lots of material and pictures to help us with our own creations. We all had an enjoyable morning and the final results looked absolutely ‘fantastic’ especially with the lighting.

1st November 2024 – Lynda led this workshop which included a variety of topics. Members had a choice of continuing to make Christmas decorations for the Minster Christmas Tree, decorating one of the skull templates provided to celebrate the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead, and/or making marigolds using tissue paper. Some members worked on a picture started in a previous workshop or on one of their own projects.

25th October 2024 – Members had the choice of painting/drawing fruit and vegetables in any medium or making Christmas Tree decorations. As well as providing fruit and vegetables, Lynne brought in lots of craft materials/templates etc for us to use to make unique tree decorations.

11th October 2024 – Lynne Hickin led this workshop, bringing in books and lots of photos of artwork from each artist for us to work from. Lynne talked through some of her drawings where she used an image from a Gwen John artwork but interestingly painted it in the style of Laura Knight and visa versa. We learned all about Gwen John last week. Laura Knight was known for painting amidst the world of theatre and ballet in London and for being a war artist during the Second World War. Members had an interesting morning practicing the two different styles.
