20th October 2023 – Janet organised and presented a workshop on painting canals. Janet provided lots of different photographs she had taken from her walks along the Rochdale Canal from Luddendenfoot to Hebden Bridge. She also brought a couple of books which had tips on how to paint water and reflections.
15th September 2023 – The workshop, organised and presented by Dr Lynne Hickin, was on the subject of facial expressions. Smiling, anger, puzzled, surprised, worried are all about facial muscles. It was a very interesting morning for our members.
8th September 2023 – Due to a last minute change to the schedule, Carol stepped in to lead an interesting and enjoyable workshop. Carol gave hints and tips for drawing with white chalk, pencil or pastel on to black paper. She brought in examples to demonstrate the different techniques that can be applied.
Halifax Art Society have been asked by the Calderdale Music Trust to host a drop in sketching workshop on Saturday, 9th September 1pm – 3pm, at the Old Courthouse, Blackwall, Halifax.
Please come along and meet this talented group of people who will show you how to draw musical instruments and maybe colour in a stained glass window template. In our fancy dress corner there are props and costumes ready for you – try on a top hat and waistcoat, a bonnet and parasol, a mop cap and shawl or any combination. Thank you to the Halifax Junior Light Opera for loan of the costumes. Colouring sheets and pencils are provided.
18th August 2023 – A visit was arranged to the secret garden in Manor Heath. Janet took many photos of the beautiful flowers in the park, and one little visitor! As it was a rainy morning, most of the members stayed in the Hall to paint a still life, a picture inspired from a magazine or to continue with their own project.
